Problem
After the 2023 Kahramanmaraş earthquakes, building assessments across eleven provinces took months. Insurance backed up, displacement costs piled up, residents didn't know when they could return home. The current system depends on engineer visits — a bottleneck that collapses under large events.
Why now
MEMS sensors at lab-grade noise floors now cost a fifth of what they did ten years ago. Wi-Fi plus BLE on a single chip (ESP32-S3) sells at consumer prices. Turkish public and investor interest in disaster tech is at a post-2023 peak. These pieces didn't exist three years ago.
Market
Turkey has roughly twenty million households; about seventy percent of the country sits in seismic risk zones. Primary targets are earthquake-aware homeowners in Istanbul, Izmir and Ankara. Second wave: building managers, insurance fleets, municipalities. Third wave: Chile, Indonesia, Japan, Mexico — high-risk markets.
Product
V1 is a $79 consumer device on Wi-Fi. V1.5 adds microSD and a gyroscope for a premium tier. V2 brings cellular and LoRa for the enterprise tier. Revenue comes from device sales plus a $5/month SaaS subscription. Target LTV/CAC around 13x once volume kicks in.
Team
PhD-level academic advisor in earthquake engineering. Two MSc civil engineering researchers on structural health monitoring and pilot fieldwork. Founder on embedded, IoT and cloud. All in Turkey. Academic partnerships in preparation.
Competition
Domestic players (EDIS, Multitek) are priced at B2B and lack the mobile-first experience. Google's free Android EEW occupies the alerting space but doesn't monitor building health. Grillo started consumer and pivoted to B2G — a useful lesson that consumer hardware alone isn't enough; we pair it with SaaS from day one.
Roadmap
Q2 2026 — working prototype with STA/LTA, MQTT and a mobile demo. Q3 2026 — five to ten pilot installations with real data. Q4 2026 — seed close and company formation. Q1 2027 — CE certification and first production of 1,000 units. Q2 2027 — launch and V1.5 PCB revision.
Seed round
$250K USD equivalent, eighteen months of runway. Allocation: 36% production, 32% team, 12% marketing, 8% certification, 6% cloud, 6% legal and reserve. In parallel: TÜBİTAK BiGG application (1.35M TL), KOSGEB programs, AWS Activate, Google for Startups, Microsoft for Startups credits.
What we're looking for
Angels and seed funds with hardware-startup experience. Partners with access to Turkish regulation, manufacturing and insurance networks. Smart capital, not fast money. We're happy to share the detailed technical master document and financial model under NDA.
